Don Gino Rigoldi

President of the Committee of Guarantors

I was born in Milan on October 30, 1939.

At 13 I started working as a worker in a small electrical equipment company, where I later became an employee.

At 18 I entered the seminary of Venegono. Ordained a priest in 1967, and until 1971 I carried out my ministry at the Collegio Arcivescovile De Filippi in Varese. Later I was transferred as a coadjutor in a parish of San Donato Milanese.

In 1972 I asked anvad obtained to become Chaplain of the Cesare Beccaria juvenile prison. I inaugurated the first three accommodation communities, houses in which the boys lived with me and the educators, attending school and sports and leisure activities in the neighborhoods.

In December 1973, I founded the association Comunità Nuova Onlus. The association promotes the personal and social growth of people, especially young people, who are in a state or at risk of marginalization or who lack the means to develop their own life project.

In 1999 I founded the association Bambini in Romania Onlus, today BIR ODV, which I still chair, for the training and sending of volunteers, from 16 years old and up, to orphanages and children’s shelters in Romania.

In 2012 I launched the social housing project “Abit@giovani” to give the under 35s the possibility of buying or renting a house at fair prices and involving them in a process of revitalizing social relations in the neighborhoods. Thanks to the involvement of the Lombardy Region, Aler Milano, the Cariplo Foundation, the Lombardy Real Estate Fund and the Social Housing Foundation, the project managed to make over 200 apartments available at the end of the year.

In 2014 I received the honorary degree from the University of Milan in “Public and Business Communication”. In 2015, Fondazione Don Gino Rigoldi was born from my will and that of a group of friends and supporters of my activities together with Comunità Nuova Onlus and BIR ODV. The goal is to give continuity to the ideas and principles that have always guided us in meeting people, especially young people and those who support them for role and profession: families, teachers, educators…

Marco Morelli

Vice President of the Committee of Guarantors

I was born in Rome in 1961, and since September 14, 2020, I have been Executive Chairman AXA Investment Managers and member of the Management Committee of AXA.

I was CEO of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena from September 2016 to May 2020 after having held various positions in the same group, also as Deputy General Manager from the end of 2003 to January 2010.

Previously, from October 2012 I was Vice Chairman of Bank of America Merrill Lynch for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and CEO of Bank of America Merrill Lynch Italy. Previously I was Deputy General Manager of Intesa Sanpaolo, and General Manager of JP Morgan Italy after having worked abroad for a long time at various international organizations. I am a free lecturer at the Faculty of Finance and Economics of LUISS in Rome where I graduated cum laude, chartered accountant and official auditor. I was a board member of F2i, Beni Stabili, LUISS University Rome, Hopa, and a member of the executive committee of ABI.

Roberto Bacci

I was born in 1946, and I am married, with two children. I am an engineer, consultant, and former general manager of CEI (Italian Electrotechnical Committee), a national standardization body of private law without profit founded in 1909, which has as its mission the elaboration of technical standards with legal value, the diffusion of technical culture and training. CEI represents Italy for the regulation in the electrical and telecommunications field at European and global level. I have directed several companies in the utility sector, and I am a board member in various boards of directors of foundations and associations; I also carry out activities in volunteer associations.

Carlo Buora

I was born in Milan in 1946, I am married, with two children. I am an Italian business executive, former executive Vice President of Telecom Italia, CEO and general manager of Pirelli. Former Member of the Boards of Directors of Mediobanca (member of the Executive Committee), RCS Editori, RAS Italia, and Impregilo. I am currently Vice President of the European Institute of Oncology and President of the Centro Cardiologico Monzino.

Marco De Martini

I was born in Venice in 1961, and I am married, with 3 children. I graduated in Economics and Commerce at Bocconi University, and after returning to Italy after a work experience in an American multinational, I founded and managed Tecniconsult.

Later I entered the company founded by my grandfather and held the position of CEO of the Italian and Indian companies of the group.

Adrio Maria De Carolis

I am an Italian entrepreneur. In the late eighties, I founded Datanord Multimedia, which became the first Italian web agency to be listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.

I founded, developed and managed numerous successful initiatives, including several start-ups (SoldiOnline, Audinet-Sinottica, CairoWeb, Doubleclick Italy, www.meteo.it), and, through a takeover bid on the Stock Exchange, the acquisition of Dmail Group.

Currently, I am the majority shareholder and President of SWG S.p.A..

Mariella Enoc

I was born in Novara in 1944, and I was the president of the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital from 2015 to 2023. After studying classics and medicine, I have been continuously involved in the administration and management of health facilities. Since 2012, I have been the special prosecutor of the Valduce Hospital in Como, and for ten years at the Cottolengo Hospital in Turin. I was the president of Confindustria Piemonte from 2008 to 2012. I have always been active in the philanthropic sector, and I was the vice-president of the Cariplo Foundation from 2004 until May 2019 and the VicePresident of the Cini Foundation from 2008 to 2020. I am currently a member of the board of directors of the Fondazione Don Gnocchi and the president of the Fondazione Ismu.

Cesare Ponti

I was born in Novara in 1940, and I have a degree in Economics and Business from Bocconi University. I represented, together with my brother Franco, the fourth generation at the helm of Ponti S.p.A., founded in 1867 by Biagio Ponti. I held many positions in the trade associations, and I was the president of the Industrial Association of Novara and the Community Foundation of Novara. I have always been involved in many charitable initiatives.

Andrea Marnoni

I was born in Milan in 1966. I have been a social worker in the field of childhood and families in difficulty for more than thirty years; educator, pedagogist, counselor, family mediator, I am currently the general coordinator of the Associazione Comunità Nuova.

Marco Povero

I was born in Genoa in 1989. I am a non-profit manager, expert in youth policies, volunteering, participation and non-formal education. I have always been very active in volunteering, and I have worked as a youth worker and project manager in Moldova, Romania and Italy (post-earthquake in central Italy) for Caritas Ambrosiana, Misiunea Sociala Diaconia and Associazione BIR. Since 2019, I work in Milan and I am currently the Director of Associazione BIR.

Daniele Checchi

I was born in 1958, I am married, with two children. I graduated from Bocconi (1982), I have a Master in Economics from London School of Economics (1985), I have a PhD in economics (1988). I am currently an emeritus professor of political economy at the University of Milan, where I held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences (2005-2013). I was a member of the ANVUR Steering Committee (2015-2019) and the central director of Studies and Research of INPS (2020-22). I was the President of the ARCI F.Mondini Cultural Circle (1992-2006) and the Don Lorenzo Milani Popular Culture Social Cooperative (1996-2023). I was a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the School (Turin) (2008-2016) and the WeWorld Foundation (Milan) (2015-2017). I was a member of the Scientific Committee appointed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security for the evaluation of the Citizenship Income (2021-2022).

Maria Carla Barbarito

Since 2011, I have been a founding partner of SEAS-Studio Sanzo e Associati. Since 2018, I have become an equity partner of the LCA studio in Milan.

I have specialized in family and inheritance matters – cohabitation. Since 2002, I have had several appointments as a special curator for minors in a state of abandonment by the Juvenile Court and as many appointments as Guardian and Support Administrator for adults/elderly people who are wholly or partially unable to act, having to manage and also specialize in the management of important assets. I have had other appointments as a special curator for minors for extraordinary administration operations in conflict of interest with their parents by the Ordinary Court.

From 2001 until 2022, I was active in the training of civil law and care – on behalf of the legal training school Just Legal Services s.r.l. – the theoretical-practical lessons, on the subject of obligations and contracts, for the qualification to practice the legal profession. Since 2022, I have been a teacher at the forensic school of the Order Council and I have always held lessons on the Support Administration procedure for the ODEC. I am also a member of the Family Commission of the Milan Order.

Mario Brianza

I have two children and three grandchildren; I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan and I attended the post-graduate course in Business Management at SDA Bocconi.

I joined Pirelli in the organizational consulting department, in Dalmine as Controller and in S.E.A Airports of Milan as General Manager.

I managed the Malpensa 2000 project from the design to the opening of the airport.

Today I am the President of the Association of European Airports, President of Aviation Services and President of the Sant’Ambrogio Foundation.

Walter Pozzi

I was born in 1948, I am married with two daughters.

After studying Electrical Engineering, in the 70s I joined IBM ITALY in the information systems sector, carrying out my activity in Italy, the USA and the UK. In the early 80s I joined the Italian subsidiary of the private group MARS Inc. as Head of Information Systems and after a couple of years I held the position of Personnel Director until the Company decided to move its headquarters to the Pavese area. In 1990 I moved to the Italian subsidiary of the private group S.C. JOHNSON & Son. as Director of Information Systems with a pan-European responsibility as well. In 1993 I went on to hold the position of Finance Director for the Italian company with coordination of South East Europe. Finally, I was appointed CEO. In 2011 I retired and met don Gino Rigoldi who involved me in his associative activities.

Giovanni Viani

I am married with two children. I graduated in Economic and Social Sciences from Bocconi University in 1986. I worked at Continental bank (1987-90), McKinsey (1990-2005), Intesa SanPaolo (2005-2007). Since 2007, I have been a partner at Oliver Wyman, where I led the Italian office from 2005 to 2013, then the South East Europe region until 2021. Since 2019, I have been responsible, at a global level, for Partner Assessment, Training and Development.

Enzo Badalotti

I was born in Mantua in 1960, I am married and have a son. I am a Business Manager, former Operations Director of Olivetti Group, Board Member of Omnitel and Infostrada, President and CEO of Telespazio, Director of International Activities of Telecom Italia Group, CEO of Mediacontech. Former lecturer of Information Systems at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia,I have been interested in theories of complexity, management, innovation and Future Emerging Technologies. I am a member of the Advisory Board of ECLT (European Center for Living Technologies) at the University of Cà Foscari in Venice.

Walter Merati

I was born in Milan, and I am a Chartered Accountant, registered with the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Milan and with the Register of Statutory Auditors. I am the owner of the Walter Merati Studio based in Milan; I have been practicing professionally since 1985. I deal with tax and corporate consultancy and hold the positions of Mayor and Auditor in companies and entities.

Mario Rotti

I was born in Milan in 1967, and I have two children. Registered with the Register of Statutory Auditors and with that of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Milan since 2022, I continue the professional activity of the Rotti Studio founded in 1935. I carry out freelance activities mainly dedicated to corporate and business tax consultancy, and I hold numerous positions in Boards of Directors and Boards of Statutory Auditors.

Pierfilippo Pozzi

GD and “Casa di accoglienza di don Gino” project Coordinator

I was born in Udine in 1964. Graduated in philosophy, I have been involved in cultural training and founded the Cultural Center La Casa Zoiosa in Milan. I have edited texts on religious topics for Einaudi, Laterza and Rizzoli. Since 1990 I have been working closely with don Gino Rigoldi. Since 2015 I have been General Secretary of the Fondazione Don Gino Rigoldi and since 2023 General Manager.
