The Azimuth Day Center of Comunità Nuova Onlus is a semi-residential therapeutic-rehabilitative service dedicated to supporting people with substance addiction problems, located in the QT8 neighborhood of Milan.

It accommodates up to 16 adults and offers them a personalized therapeutic program of up to 12 months that respects each guest’s goals, timeframe, resources and fragilities. In their “protected daily living,” guests have the opportunity to discontinue substance use and explore new patterns of living and relationships. Azimuth becomes a gymnasium for them to train new relational and planning skills: the central goal of the Center is to provide a safe and stimulating environment through workshops, sports activities, educational talks and individual psychotherapy, tools with which guests can embark on a path of change and personal growth.

Objectives:

  • Develop greater self-awareness and awareness of one’s own addiction, and reflect on personal behaviors
  • Experiment with new relational, planning, and self-assessment skills
  • Put one’s planning abilities into practice through small tasks and responsibilities
  • Provide support through dialogue in managing a new daily life and different aspects of one’s existence

Beneficiaries: Substance users with certified addiction issued by a SerD (Addiction Services), SMI (Integrated Multidisciplinary Services), or NOA (Alcoholism Operational Unit), aged between 18 and 55, most of whom are serving alternative measures to detention.
